Backstage Video: Going Dark at the Long Wharf Theatre

Stage Directions • Theatre Buzz • April 1, 2020

Here’s a Backstage Video created by the Long Wharf Theatre. In this piece, Going Dark, the theatre’s Artistic Director, Jacob G. Padrón walks us through the set for The Chinese Lady, which was to be their next production when the theatre closed due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Padrón provides a tour that honors the theatrical artisans and creative team of this show and stands in solidarity with all the other theaters that have gone dark. At the end, he puts out the ghost light until everyone returns.

We, here at Stage Directions, were looking forward to this production and hope to be able to see it one day soon when the theatre reopens. We send our warmest regards to all the theater artisans out there, all around the globe that are idle at the moment. Theater is resilient and we will be back stronger than before!
