ADJ Launches Battery-Powered LED Pars

ADJ’s new Mega Go Par64 Plus Mega QPLUS Go

ADJ’s new Mega Go Par64 Plus Mega QPLUS Go are two new fixtures in their Mega Go Series. Both battery-powered fixtures feature RGB+UV LEDs. The Mega Go Par64 Plus uses 172 10mm, 0.07W LEDs (split across 56 Red, 60 Green and 56 Blue), along with a single high-power 3W UV LED in the center. Its lithium battery allows 4.5 hours of continual light output with all of the LEDs on full. The new Mega QPLUS Go utilizes five 4-Watt 4-in-1 RGB+UV LEDs. Its internal battery is capable of powering the fixture for 4 hours with full output, which can be extended to 5.5 hours using the Energy Saving Mode. Both units are also fitted with IEC power input and output sockets and XLR DMX in and outs.

Adrian Noble Named Old Globe Shakes Fest A.D.

SAN DIEGO, CA—Adrian Noble has been appointed Artistic Director of The Old Globe’s 2010 Shakespeare Festival celebrating the theatre’s 75th anniversary season. One of the theatre’s most respected and sought-after directors, Noble will oversee the Festival and direct two of the three productions presented in repertory. Noble succeeds Resident Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak who will leave his post in September to pursue independent directing opportunities.

 

AES Launches New Website

NEW YORK—The Audio Engineering Society Web Development Team has completed a massive overhaul of their website’s 12-year-old design. The new site features a sophisticated user interface, drop down menus and enhanced social networking, audio/visual and search capabilities, as well as allowing content from lower levels to “float” to the home page and provides quick access to all areas of the website.

AES Releases Live Sound Program of Events

NEW YORK—Henry Cohen and Mac Kerr, Live Sound co-chairs for the 127th AES convention, have put together a broad program of events to educate attendees about the issues and challenges facing everyone who deals with live sound. Theatre practitioners can check out panels on the White Spaces issue, another whole panel offering practical advice for wireless users and a panel microphone dressing. The 127th AES Convention will be held at NY’s Javits Center Oct. 9-12, 2009. Details on all the panels after the jump.

AKG USA Extends 700 MHz Rebate Program Through September 2010

NORTHRIDGE, CA—AKG has extended its 700 MHz rebate program an additional three months to end on September 30, 2010. The program—which went into effect on March 1, 2010—allows owners of any manufacturer’s old 700 MHz system to trade it in and receive a cash rebate following the purchase of a new AKG non-700 MHz band, FCC compliant wireless system, or components that comprise a system.

Allen & Heath Expands dLive Digital Mixing System

The newest members fo the Allen & Heath dLive Digital Mixing System: the IP6 and IP8 remote controllers, the Waves V3 audio networking card and the gigaAce card.

Allen & Heath launched four new additions to its dLive digital mixing system, giving users more options for networking and control. The The IP6 and IP8 are next generation remote controllers for dLive, widening the system’s flexibility in installations and live sound. The Waves V3 audio networking card takes full advantage of the dLive I/O Port architecture, providing a 128x128 channel, 48/96kHz interface to the Waves SoundGrid platform. The gigaAce card provides a 128x128 channel 96kHz point-to-point redundant link to another dLive mixing system. More details about all the new products after the jump.

Allen & Heath Launches First IPhone App for ILive

WOODLAND HILLS, CA—Allen & Heath has launched iLive Tweak, its first iPhone app, to provide real time mobile control of the iLive digital mixing range. The release adds another option to iLive’s array of remote control possibilities, which includes laptops and touch tablets running iLive Editor control software, and the PL Series of controllers.

Allen & Heath Launches Qu Upgrade With V1.5 Firmware Release

Allen & Heath has released a new firmware update for its Qu Series of compact digital mixers. New features include support for the newly launched Qu-32 mixer and AB168 Audio Rack, as well as DCA Groups, custom channel naming, flexible dSNAKE output patching, improved routing for studio recording applications, and additional MIDI control soft keys.

American Association of Community Theatre Announces Winners of Inaugural AACTNewPlayFest

The AACTNewPlayFest received more than 200 submissions.

The American Association of Community Theatres have announced the winners of their inaugural AACTNewPlayFest. The six winning scripts will receive a production at an AACT-affiliated theatre and be published by the Dramatic Publishing Company. The winning plays were: The Boatwright by Bo Wilson, to be produced by Grand Rapids Civic Theatre in Grand Rapids, Mich.; End Papers by Barry Weinberg, to be produced by Little Theatre of Mechanicsburg in Mechanicsburg, Pa.; Exit Laughing by Paul Elliot, to be produced by Springfield Little Theatre in Springfield, Mo.; Jellofish by James Henry, to be produced by Phoenix Stage Company in Naugatuck, Conn.; The Seamstress by CeCe Dwyer, to be produced by Hickory Community Theatre in Hickory, N.C.; The Vanishing Point by Nedra Roberts, to be produced by California Stage Company in Sacramento, Calif. Thanks to a generous donation from Former AACT President Linda M. Lee, AACT will donate $4,000 to help defray production and marketing expenses for the new productions.
