Foy

Over the years, Flying by Foy has provided services to literally thousands of productions of Peter Pan, as well as the flying effects created by Foy for more than 60 Broadway and West End shows, including the Olivier Award winning Harry Potter and the Cursed Child now playing in the West End and coming to Broadway in 2018.

Flying by Foy continues to be the innovative proving ground for the latest advances in flying technology. The living, breathing heart of Foy’s machines and the key element required to produce outstanding flying effects and breathtaking aerial sequences resides in the physical skills, creative ingenuity, and intuitive abilities of a Foy Aereographer. The term, coined by Peter Foy, collectively describes a range of services its Flying Directors provide to theatrical productions in the creation of aerial performer choreography.

Foy’s patented flying systems, mechanical devices and state-of-the-art automation control software are known for their superior performance, ease of operation and reliability. At Flying by Foy, they begin by determining which equipment is best suited to the desired effect and provide you with the finest manual, motorized or automated systems available, always under the expert supervision of a Foy Flying Director. For the hundreds more productions yet to follow in Foy’s future, Foy’s Flying Directors will continue to practice a closely-held tradition that began more than 60 years ago with the personal services of Peter Foy—the original Aereographer and the standard by which all Foy Aereographers who have followed in his footsteps must be judged.

PointWright

D2 Flying Effects, a division of PointWright Entertainment Rigging Specialists, was founded in 2009 by Delbert Hall and Sam Fisher with offices in Maryland and Tennessee. Co-founder Hall has over 35 years of experience flying performers, is an ETCP Certified Rigger and Trainer, and professor of theatre at East Tennessee State University. Fisher, Co-founder of D2 and CEO of PointWright Entertainment Rigging Specialists, has been flying performers since 1999.

The flying directors and production riggers of D2 are also full trained installation specialists, understanding all aspects of rigging. They know how to inspect your venue to ensure that any flying equipment can be properly installed and that any problems can be identified and resolved before they turn into a safety issue.

D2 Flying Effects has the equipment to provide dozens of diverse types of flying systems, including pendulum, straight lift, spinning, track, and motorized systems. They have systems that are designed to meet specific flying needs and are constantly developing new ones as they can design and build flying systems to meet any need. There is no “one size fits all” system when it comes performer flying systems.

They will work with the director and/or choreographer to ensure the production get the effects that you want. They also work with your scenic, lighting, and costume designers to ensure that everything works together and that the flying effects are properly integrated into the production as one of the creative elements. The team from D2 understands that many people have little or no experience with performer flying effects, and they take the time to make sure that everyone understands all that they need to know to make the right decisions for their productions.
