BETHESDA, MD—
The American Alliance for Theatre and Education named Lynne Kingsley as
executive director at their recent convention in San Francisco. The former New
York actress and fashion executive will be the American Alliance
for Theatre and Education’s (AATE) first Executive Director since the
organization was relocated to the Washington, DC area from Tempe,
AZ in 2003.

NEW YORK—The Midtown International Theatre Festival (MITF)
has announced the nominees for the MITF Eleventh Annual Season Awards. The
AWARDS CEREMONY will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 8pm at New World
Stages. Audiences voted online for the Best of Fest and winners will be
announced at the ceremony. One of the Best of the Fest voters will win tickets
to The 39 Steps in a drawing held at
the ceremony.

Center in Denison, Texas has purchased 10 Prism Projection Reveal Color Wash
(Reveal CW) fixtures for the newly-renovated, 1,000-seat Cruce Stark Auditorium
and the new, more intimate 50-foot-by-50-foot Black Box Theater. The latter space features a fully-flexible
seating system by Staging Concepts that can accommodate up to 150 people
depending on the configuration. The
Cruce Stark Auditorium and Black Box Theater are used as classrooms and for
theatre and music performances; they are also available for community events
and outside rentals.

biggest theatres. Constructed from 12,000 tons of steel on a

as a smaller 400-seat venue. Both have been equipped with L-Acoustics sound
reinforcement systems supplied by Chinese distributor Rightway Audio
Consultants and installed by contractor Leifull Light and Sound Enterprises.

NEW YORK—MetLife
Foundation and Theatre Communications Group (TCG) have announced the third
round of recipients for the A-ha! Program: Think It, Do It, which encourages
TCG member theatres to think and act creatively. Six theatres were awarded
grants, totaling $225,000, to either research and develop new production ideas
or experiment and implement innovative concepts in the theatre field. The total
award amount is a 50 percent increase from last year’s total of $150,000.
