University of Nebraska at Omaha Gains Recognition at KCACTF Regional Fest Print E-mail

OMAHA, NB — The University of Nebraska at Omaha Department of Theatre participated in the Region Five Festival of the Kennedy Center’s American College Theatre Festival. The university’s production of Women of Troy was among five invited productions from across the Midwest to participate in the 41st annual festival of KCACTF in Lawrence, Kan.

The performance received a great response from the judges and audience, and is being considered for presentation at the national festival at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.  The national selection team’s decision will be released in March after the conclusion of the other regional festivals.

Students of the UNO theatre department also received various national and regional awards at the festival.  

Meritorious Achievement Awards
Maire Creegan – Direction, Women of Troy.
Matthew Lott – Costume Design, Women of Troy.

Regional Awards
Women of Troy – Golden-Hand-Truck Award for best load-in/load-out.
Brent Froning – 1st Place, Technical Direction, Women of Troy.
Megan Noonan – 1st Place, Allied Crafts, Scale Armor: Women of Troy.
Darin Kuehler – Society of Properties Artisans and Managers Award.
Melissa Salts – 2nd Place, Regional Costume Design Competition.

National Awards
Adam Van Osdel – 1st Place, Alcone Makeup Award: Women of Troy.
Benjamin Graber – Finalist for the John Cauble Short Play Award.
