Lookingglass Theatre Company Reflects on 30th Season

As the Lookingglass Theatre Company prepares to open its 30th season they took some time to reflect on the 30 years of productions they've produced. Founded in 1988 by graduates of Northwestern University, Lookingglass Theatre Company is today one of the nation's leading companies, having staged 96 Productions, of which 64 were world premieres, including Mary Zimmerman’s Tony Award-winning MetamorphosesThe Arabian Nights, and The Odyssey, David Schwimmer’s adaptation of Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle and Studs Terkel’s Race: How Blacks and Whites Think and Feel about the American Obsession, and David Catlin’s circus tribute to Lewis Carroll, Lookingglass Alice. The companies work has been produced in more than a dozen US cities and they recieved the 2011 Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre.

The New Flea Theater Space Opens September 28

On Thursday, September 28, 2017, The Flea Theater, the 21-year-old off-off-Broadway theater known for “raising a joyful hell in a small space”, will unveil its new home at 20 Thomas Street. The new performing arts center was designed by ARO, Architectural Research Office and built by Westerman Construction Company, and features three small theaters under one roof, each space with a unique design and multiple uses.

The Drama Book Shop, currently located at 250 West 40th Street in NYC's theatre district, celebrates its 100 years of service to all interested in the performing arts and its 100 years as being a vital part the performing arts community. The TONY award-winning Drama Book Shop will commemorate its 100th birthday with an all-day celebration on Monday, October 2nd, 2017 open to the public. The schedule of free events includes seminars with actors, directors, and playwrights plus a one-on-one interview by legendary newsman Bill Moyers with playwright Robert Schenkkan.

The Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, located in Charlotte, NC, wanted to update its lobby spaces as part of a larger refresh project. They wanted to streamline the theater lobby in a way that would allow guests a seamless experience prior to and during theater performances using digital signage to market upcoming shows and detail concession stand offerings.
