California Shakespeare Theater Chooses Artist Investigator Projects

The Artist-Investigator Program invites artists to lead the investigation into what the performances of the future might look like, and to help California Shakespeare Theater discover what happens when the arts are more deeply integrated into community life. The 2014 round of artists and organizations include Paul Flores with Causa Justa::Just Cause; Elizabeth Gjelten with DISH (Delivering Innovation in Supportive Housing); Krista De Nio with Berkeley Food and Housing; Dr. Ayodele Nzinga with Green Life Project/Pathways to Resilience.

Lycian Stage Lighting Introduces Two New Followspots at LDI

Lycian will unveil the 1274 Superstar 1.2 Short and Superstar 2K, 2000 watt MSR at LDI later this month. The 1274 is designed for throws to beyond 100 feet/ 35 meters. It utilizes the OSRAM Sharx series 1200 watt double-ended lamp positioned in a dichroic glass reflector. The model 1276 Superstar 2K is a 2000 watt version of the Superstar. The 1276 is recommended where a bright non- xenon followspot where medium to long applications are present.

SDC Foundation Celebrate Outstanding Directors with Fichandler and Callaway Awards

On Nov. 3, the Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation honored Joseph Haj, the producting artistic director of PlayMakers Repertory Company in Chapel Hill, N.C., with the Zelda Fichandler Award at ceremony at the Clurman Theatre, part of Theatre Row in New York City. Also at the ceremony, John Rando and Martha Clarke received the Joe A. Callaway Awards for excellence in directing and choreography, respectively, in the 2013-2014 NYC theatre season.
