Production Advantage will be holding their fall Vendor Rodeo Wednesday, September 20 from 10:00am-4:00pm. This year the event is generously hosted by the Theatre Department at Williams College in Williamstown, MA. Select manufacturers from across the entertainment industry will be showing off both their newest offerings and time-tested products. See ongoing product demos throughout the day, reach out and touch the equipment, and freely engage the representatives. Bring your questions and leave with ideas!

MSU Alum Brian Stonestreet: Electrifying Audiences through Stage Design

Check out this video of Michigan State University alum, Production Designer Brian Stonestreet, who holds a BA in Theatre (class of '85) He is the founder of Brian Stonestreet Design Inc., a full-scale production design agency in Burbank, California. His company leads the visual aspects, mainly set designs, for awards shows, television and Fortune 500 company events. He has led production designs for more than 75 performances in cities like New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Nashville, and Beijing just to name a few.

National Theatre's Laurie Clayton Solves Lighting Challenges for Angels In America

Tony Kushner’s epic two-part drama Angels in America was first seen at Britain’s National Theatre back in 1992. Now to celebrate its 25th anniversary, the plays have returned to the National, in a new production directed by Marianne Elliott and with lighting by Paule Constable (a duo whose previous collaborations have included War Horse and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time), alongside scenic design by Ian MacNeil and costume design by Nicky Gillibrand.

Jill Anna Ponasik Named Skylight Music Theatre Artistic Associate

Skylight Music Theatre Artistic Director Ray Jivoff announced that Jill Anna Ponasik will join Skylight as Artistic Associate effective Sept. 5, 2017. Ponasik will continue her role as producing artistic director of Milwaukee Opera Theatre, a company she has guided since 2009. In her part-time position as Skylight artistic associate, she will work closely with Jivoff and Skylight staff to develop and implement Skylight’s strategic, artistic and educational programming and priorities.

Playhouse in the Park Selects BHDP Architecture to Lead Design for Renovation

Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park’s board of trustees approved the selection of BHDP Architecture as the architectural firm to design the new, state-of-the-art Mainstage Theatre complex, which is the centerpiece of the Playhouse’s major capital renovation. Construction is expected to begin in spring of 2019 and be completed for opening in the fall of 2020. Officials also announced Messer Construction Co. and TriVersity Construction as construction partners for the project.

d&b audiotechnik Expands R&D and Strengthens Management Team

d&b audiotechnik is expanding its Research and Development department and has appointed a new member to its management team. With effect from August 1st, Jan Biermann takes over from Frank Bothe as Head of Research and Development. Bothe will now focus on the company’s medium to long term technology roadmap in his role as Chief Technology Officer. As leader of the Research and Development team Biermann will be responsible for implementing product development projects, reporting to d&b Managing Director Markus Strohmeier.

Houston’s Alley Theatre Begins Recovery Following Hurricane Harvey

The Alley Theatre is currently in recovery mode working to restore administrative and artistic facilities and provide assistance to our artists and staff who have been affected by Hurricane Harvey. The Alley will proceed with the upcoming fall season, beginning with Describe the Night at the University of Houston’s Quintero Theatre.
