SDC Foundation Celebrate Outstanding Directors with Fichandler and Callaway Awards

On Nov. 3, the Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation honored Joseph Haj, the producting artistic director of PlayMakers Repertory Company in Chapel Hill, N.C., with the Zelda Fichandler Award at ceremony at the Clurman Theatre, part of Theatre Row in New York City. Also at the ceremony, John Rando and Martha Clarke received the Joe A. Callaway Awards for excellence in directing and choreography, respectively, in the 2013-2014 NYC theatre season.

ETC Plans Big LDI

ETC is planning a booth full of new for LDI. This will be the first year ETC demonstrates their newly-acquired line of Vortek rigging at their booth. ETC will also exhibit GDS architectural luminaires in their booth as well as their Echo control system, part of ETC’s Unison architectural systems. The ColorSource LED PAR will also be on display, along with ETC’s Nomad systems.

Osram’s Prototype LED Designed to Bridge Green Gap

Orsram Opto Semiconductors has developed a prototype LED with high efficacy in the green spectrum. The LED is based on indium gallium nitride (InGaN) semiconductors and achieves an efficacy of 147 lumens per watt (lm/W) at a wavelength of 530 nanometers (nm) and a spectral width of 35 nm. They’ve also developed a green LED by combining a blue chip with a phosphor converter that has achieved a efficacy exceeding 200 lm/W.

W-DMX Displays New Wireless Products at LDI

W-DMX is flying into LDI to show off three new products: their Uglybox MK2, a new wireless signal tester; their W-DMX COB (Chip on Board), a transceiver solution in an ultra-compact 6x6 mm size; and the Nano RDM RX, a DMX/RDM Receiver with full implementation of the RDM protocol and support of the latest G4S software with updated 128-bit encryption and much improved adaptive frequency hopping algorithm.
