USITT 2015 Expo Launches with Terrence Spivey Address

Jacob Coakley

The 2015 USITT Conference and Stage Expo opened this morning with Terrence Spivey delivering a call for greater diversity in the arts as well as exhorting artists everywhere to use the power of the arts to bridge racial divides and promote a healing, unified society. “There's a fear in not understanding other cultures. This is our chance in the arts,” Spivey said. “Art is the savior, the healing process.” You can read my full coverage of Spivey’s address on TheaterFace.com here. I will be live-blogging sessions throughout the USITT Expo (which runs March 18-21), including the RC4 Wireless session on wireless dimming for props, costumes and set pieces on Wednesday afternoon. You can find all the live-blogs on the TheatreFace.com home page. And the quickest way to stay up to date with everything that’s happening at the show, including new products, pics from the show floor, live-tweets from sessions and more is to follow Stage Directions on Twitter.
