Lighting 'Puffs' Off-Broadway

Stage Directions

Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic, is an off-Broadway show playing at New World Stages beneath an all-LED Elation lighting rig. The play portrays a certain famous wizard school from the perspective of the slightly nerdy and not-so-famous house called Puffs. Described as ‘a play for anyone who has never been destined to save the world,’ Puffs are the outsiders of the magic school who disheartenedly observe as a certain boy wizard repeatedly saves the day. Written by Matt Cox and produced by Tilted Windmills Theatricals, the play has a lighting design by Herrick Goldman and was directed by Kristin McCarthy Parker.

Similarly, no company should be able to block, throttle, or discriminate against lawful distributors attempting to provide creative works to internet consumers.

Theatre Projects Announces New Office in Denver

Stage Directions

Theatre Projects announces that on June 1 they’re opening a second U.S. office in Denver. Wanting to be more easily available to their clients in the western and mid-western U.S., they looked at locations from Seattle to Austin. And they loved the central-ness of Denver. It’s only a few hours by plane to Los Angeles, Portland, Minneapolis, Dallas, Chicago, and Atlanta. It’s also one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S. and ranked among the best places to live in the country.

Sound Designer Darron L. West on his Soundscape for 'Lobby Hero'

Stage Directions

An intense and intimate study into the human condition, or the latest staging of a sharp piece of drama from the 2017 Oscar-winning writer of Manchester by the Sea, Kenneth Lonergan: both descriptions are easily accepted for the revival of Lobby Hero on Broadway. This masterful presentation by Second Stage Theater at the Helen Hayes Theater, with the dramatic action all taking place within the lobby of an apartment building, clearly demonstrates Lonergan’s particular skill and sensitivity for realistic everyday dialogue.

Overture Hall in Madison, Wisconsin Upgrades its Audio

Stage Directions

For performance venues, success can be a double-edged sword; if the space is constantly booked, carving out time to update technology can present a challenge. Such was definitely the case with Clearwing System Integration’s recent audio system retrofit of more than 100 L-Acoustics loudspeakers at the 2,255-seat Overture Hall, the largest of seven performing arts venues and five galleries that together make up Madison, Wisconsin’s Overture Center for the Arts.
