No matter what your career path, or level of experience is with audio, there’s something for everyone to learn about with regards to audio at the USITT 2018 Conference. The popular biennial Sound Lab will offer 2018 conference attendees hands-on design and tech experience in audio. USITT’s Sound Commission has created a dynamic program for attendees to get their hands on the latest equipment and mix live events as a part of the Lab.

Thursday, March 15 will focus on musical theatre mixing with Broadway audio engineers supervising and guiding attendees. This is a great opportunity to learn from the experience and expertise of these talented engineers.
Friday, March 16 will focus on live band mixing with a variety of types of music. This one-of-kind experience is a must-attend for any technician looking to advance their skill set when looking to run today’s advanced sound systems.

The Stage Expo at USITT 2018 will also feature hands-on demos/trainings that are offered by manufacturers. These one hour plus trainings let you get a more detailed look at certain products. Also learn techniques and the ins and outs of a variety of audio consoles. The take away from these training opportunities is a tactile experience with some of the finest equipment in the entertainment production industry.

The Loudspeaker Demos will also return, where audio manufacturers offer live demonstrations of their speaker products in a real-world theatrical setting. You can hear—and experience—their performance for yourself. There will also be a range of manufacturers at the Stage Expo demonstrating their new audio product introductions.

USITT 2018 offers lots to hear and learn as there are over a dozen audio-focused sessions as a part of the conference!! Also in addition to sessions, the Sound Commission is holding their Reception and Playback Party on Friday, March 16 from 7 to 8:30 PM. You can meet and mingle with members of the Sound Commission by joining them for an evening of conversation, networking, and celebration of their accomplishments and work over the past year. You can also congratulate the USITT Distinguished Achievement Award winner, Steve Canyon Kennedy, who will be on hand during the party!
