Alley Theatre Appoints Katie Jackman as Director of Marketing and Communications

HOUSTON, Texas — Managing Director Dean R. Gladden announced today that Katie Jackman has been appointed to join the Alley Theatre as the Director of Marketing and Communications. Katie Jackman is currently the Director of External Relations at Seattle Repertory Theatre and will begin in her new position on May 11, 2015. She joins the Alley Theatre with over 15 years experience marketing non-profit and commercial theaters.

“Katie is one of the leaders in her field nationally. She has a proven track record of success marketing theatre in both Minneapolis and Seattle. We look forward to her joining us as we prepare to open our first season in our newly renovated theatre” said Managing Director Dean R. Gladden.

Jackman was hired after the Alley Theatre conducted a national search for its next Director of Marketing and Communications. She will be responsible for overseeing the Alley Theatre’s marketing and communications efforts and will also works closely with Artistic Director Gregory Boyd to represent the artistic vision of the Alley Theatre.

“The Alley is where I learned to love theater as a child and it is such an honor to be part of this institution in such an important stage in its history” said Jackman.

Katie Jackman joins the Alley Theatre after seven years at Seattle Repertory Theatre as the Director of External Relations. In this position she lead team members responsible for $4.25 million in sales and donations annually and achieved a 5% growth of annual sales since 2012, after more than 10 years of attrition. She was responsible for marketing seven of the top ten grossing productions in Seattle Repertory Theatre’s 50 year history. Prior to her work in Seattle she was the Director of Marketing and Communications at Hennepin Theatre Trust (Minneapolis, MN) where she managed over 200 presentations with 250,000 attendees annually. Prior to her work with the Trust she was the Senior Director of Marketing for Clear Channel Entertainment, where she co-managed programming and sales initiatives in Minnesota and Wisconsin, working on popular productions such as Wicked, Disney's The Lion King and Radio City Christmas Spectacular.  An active member of the arts community, she has focused on loyalty programs including a case study with Target Resource Group on Launching Loyalty, presented nationally on patron service models and building patron relationships, and developed several strategies for using discounts to build audiences. Jackman grew up in Houston and graduated from Bellaire HS.
