MITTEN Lab Presents Work from Inaugural Residencies

The MITTEN Lab and its ridiculously cute acronym (Michigan Incubator for Theatre Talent Emerging Now) has announced a partnership with two theatres — Parallel 45 Theatre in Traverse City and Theatre Nova in Ann Arbor. Theatre Nova will host a panel discussion on new play development, and Parallel 45 will present works-in-progress from the inaugural MITTEN Lab artists in residence.

21 Theatre Companies Earn Space in New NYC Theatres

The Alliance of Resident Theatres/New York will open the A.R.T./New York Theatres in November. The two “affordable, state-of-the-art” performance spaces will receive generous rental subsidies from the city of New York, with a 91-year lease on the space to insure its continued operation, to serve “smaller budget” non-profit theatres. For their first year they have selected 21 nonprofit companies as their tenants.

SDCF Names 2016 Fellows

The Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation named Nathan Singh the 2016 SDCF Sir John Gielgud Fellow. He will assist Seret Scott on her production of Electra at the Court Theatre in Chicago. The SDCF also selected Rhonda Kohl as the 2016 SDCF Shepard and Mildred Traube Fellow. She will work with Kathleen Marshall on the Broadway production of In Transit at the Circle in the Square Theatre in NYC.
