Drama Book Shop Will Reopen with New Owners Lin Manuel Miranda, Director Thomas Kail, and Fellow Hamilton Colleagues

by Stage Directions

Lin-Manuel Miranda has long been a prominent supporter of the Drama Book Shop for years. Since news broke in October that the 100-year old New York City iconic store would have to close due to a significant rent hike, Miranda has been looking at options to keep it going. The solution was to buy the store, so Miranda along with Hamilton director Thomas Kail, Hamilton lead producer Jeffrey Seller, and Hamilton landlord James L. Nederlander of the Nederlander Organization have now purchased the Drama Book Shop. Here's a video from CBS New York on this news:

The new owners are currently working with the city to find new location with affordable rent. The store will go into storage for a few months until the new store can be opened. The current Drama Book Shop will close at 6:00 on Sunday, January 20. If you are in NYC before that, be sure to visit their current location at 250 West 40th Street, one last time.
