Stage Directions • Industry News • August 13, 2019

The Santa Fe Opera has a wonderful apprentice program for technicians. “Graduates” of the Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Programs for Singers and Technicians are active with opera, theater, and ballet companies around the world, as well as in the film and television industry. All credit the program as instrumental to their artistic growth and current career. The Apprentice Program for Theater Technicians, established in 1965, is an intermediate to advanced training program. The program offers instruction and practical experience in stage operations, properties, audio & video, costumes, production/music services, make up and wig construction, stage lighting and scenic art. A typical Santa Fe season will include at least four new productions, as well as two fully staged and costumed evenings of apprentice scenes, providing an exceptional learning opportunity for young professionals. The Santa Fe Opera will also be the host of the 2019 National Conference on Outdoor Theatre October 1-3.
