Here’s a job posting from Purdue University is looking for a Senior Production Technician, located in West Lafayette, IN. This is a Full Time position and the compensation is $35,360 Annually.

What will you be doing as a Senior Production Technician?

  • Serve as video engineer, operator and event technical lead.
  • Assist the Technical Coordinator for Video Systems in planning, design, construction and operation of engineering facilities for Hall of Music Productions.
  • Assist the Technical Coordinator for Video Systems with set up and maintenance of all video production and test equipment. 
  • Help evaluate personnel, materials and equipment needs to ensure proper equipment operation and maintenance to maximize system performance.
  • Determine equipment needs and prepare equipment requests and recommendations to the Technical Coordinator. During live performances, assure camera signal meets NTSC broadcast standards and FCC regulations.
  • Manage technical aspects of event productions and lead technical teams as necessary. 
  • Serve as engineer in charge, video technical director or assistant video director as needed. 
  • Help supervise and instruct staff and student interns in video production, engineering assistance and video philosophy. 
  • Work with Event Production Managers and a variety of coworkers, students and clients to ensure high quality technical support.


  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Four years of experience in video/TV technical production.
  • Evidence of successful past experience (portfolio).
  • Experience with corporate events, theatrical events, live music production, live video production or other applicable exposure to event technology.
  • Experience working with technical crews and clients in fast paced show situations.
  • Working knowledge of audio systems, lighting systems, video production systems, staging systems, rigging equipment and electrical power.
  • Able to lift up to 75 pounds, climb ladders, work at heights in excess of 70 feet and work atop scaffolding.
  • Able to demonstrate mastery in audio, lighting, video production, rigging and fly systems and/or stage carpentry.
  • Must be competent in event technology, maintain quality work standards, high productivity, and dependability.
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural relations, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Ability to teach, coach, delegate, plan, and perform technological research as necessary.


  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in video/TV production.

 Additional Information:

  • This schedule for this position will be varied, based on events.
  • This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, to meet business need.
  • Overtime is as needed by events.
  • Purdue will not sponsor employment authorization for this position.
  • A Background Check is required for employment in this position.
  • FLSA:  Non-Exempt (Eligible for Overtime).
