Meyer Sound teamed up with the Theatrical Sound Designers and Composers Association (TSDCA) for a roundtable – MAPP 3D Overview, Tips And Tricks. This session, which took place on June 9, was hosted by Merlijn van Veen, Meyer Sound Senior Technical Support & Education Specialist. In this session, van Veen presented a background to MAPP and an introduction of MAPP 3D – Meyer Sound’s latest multipurpose sound system design tool.
Here is a video replay of that roundtable in case you missed it or want to rewatch it:
Instructor Merlijn van Veen
The discussion of topics included MAPP 3D’s main graphical user interface, Viewports and the importing of CAD & SketchUp files, van Veen shared tips and tricks to spark conversation on the use of MAPP 3D as a multipurpose sound system design tool that delivers precise, high-resolution predictions of sound energy distribution in three-dimensional sound field. It featured brand-new content not included in previous roundtables. This is a Beginner/Intermediate Class.
After studying studio recording and jazz piano at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, van Veen started his career at the Dutch Broadcast Company doing sound engineering for TV shows such as “Big Brother.” He also worked 10 years at Harlekijn Holland where he annually mixed more than 150 live performances throughout Europe and internationally before deciding to start his own education program in gratitude for the willingness of others to share their knowledge and experience.
He has developed several calculators to aide in the process of teaching including the Subwoofer Array Designer. Until recently, he was also principal teacher for sound reinforcement at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague for the “Art of Sound” under- and post-graduate program.
van Veen is moderator of the “test & measurement” board of the ProSoundWeb LAB forums. He provided ongoing aid and support to the 3rd edition of Bob McCarthy’s book Sound Systems: Design & Optimization.
Based in Germany, van Veen joined Meyer Sound’s global education leadership team in 2018. van Veen hosts education webinars and roundtable discussions as well as does design work.
This Event is open to the Public -you do not need to be a TSDCA Member.
