Backstage Video: The Designers of Mint Theater Company’s Katie Roche

Stage Directions • Theatre Buzz • February 17, 2021

Mint Theater Company, renowned for finding and producing worthwhile plays from the past that have been lost or forgotten, has continued its mission through the pandemic and theater shutdown in NYC with the presentation so it’s Silver Lining Streaming Series. They are offering Free, On Demand Streaming of six fully produced productions from the Mint archives over six months.

The streaming series allows the Mint to put the theater artists involved with each of the productions on payroll while the show is being streamed. This offers audiences an opportunity to experience great plays and productions from the safety and comfort of your own home for free but also helps theater makers during this difficult time of shutdown. Donations to Mint Theater are certainly welcome.

At the moment they are streaming Katie Roche by Teresa Deevy until March 28, 2021. The stream is of the Mint’s 2013 production directed by Jonathan Bank. The play’s mercurial heroine is a servant girl whose romantic ambitions reach for the heavens in this play which original made its Abbey Theater premiere in 1936. To receive the free password to view the streamed production, click this link and complete the form.
