It is a strange and trying time for all of us in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. We certainly understand times are tough for you, as they are for us. We have been proud to bring Stage Directions for free all these many years and we will continue to provide you with complimentary subscriptions during the pandemic. However, we would like to ask in these difficult times that you consider a small donation to help support our efforts here at Stage Directions as we work to keep our industry up to date by providing you with a continuous stream of current and vital information when it is needed, today more than ever, to keep us all in the theater community connected.
Here’s a great how-to video from the Properties Department of The Alliance Theatre, who are making tutorial videos on the vast world of theatrical props. In this first installment, Episode One, Properties Manager/Master, Suzanne Cooper Morris takes you through how to reupholster an ottoman. It’s a great video to use with your classes as we all have to teach online during the COVID-19 shutdown. (Just don’t try this at home on your mom’s favorite couch!
Credits for creating this video go to Bruce Butkovich, Properties ArtisanĀ for editing the video; Kathryn Muse, Properties Artisan for the video capture; and Kim Townsend, Properties Artisan / Buyer for content creation and IT support.
Also, during the COVID-19 shutdown, the craftspeople in the Alliance Theatre’s Costume Shop are cranking out over 200 surgical masks per day for Emory Healthcare’s use in protecting health care workers!
