Costume Design at the Utah Shakespeare Festival Replay | Utah Shakespeare Online Production Seminar

Stage Directions • Theatre Buzz • September 9, 2020

Here’s a video replay of the Utah Shakespeare Festival’s session: Costume Design at the Utah Shakespeare Festival. In this Backstage Video you can learn how the Utah Shakespeare Festival’s costumes are designed and created. Festival costume designers Bill Black (who has designed for over 50 shows since 1992) and Lauren T. Roark (designer at the Festival since 2017) gave an inside look at and answered questions about their craft. The seminar was hosted by Festival Costume Director Jeffrey Lieder.

Coming up on Friday, September 11, 1:00 p.m. MDT / 11:00 a.m. EDT is A Peek into the Festival Prop Shop. You saw the props warehouse on a previous Virtual Seminar, but now you can join Properties Director Benjamin Hohman for a tour of the prop shop where all those items are created. See some of the specialized tools and equipment used to create the exciting moments on the Festival stages and get a sneak peek at a few of the many things we are beginning work on for our 2021 season.¬†Hohman’s insights and knowledge of props (and his love of the work) will be evident in this personal presentation.
