ExtendPUA’s Weekend Actions | August 29, 2020

Stage Directions • Industry NewsTheatre Buzz • August 29, 2020

Here are this weekend’s actions and reminders from the people over at ExtendPUA.org. We suggest you go to their website and learn more about what you can do to make sure that workers are taken care of during the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown.

There are SO MANY events coming up on Tuesday, September 1st organized separately by Restaurant Workers United, Unemployed Action, and WeMakeEvents. You can check them all out at extendpua.org/events.

Please share your story with us! Our press contacts want to hear them, and this will (1) inspire more people to mobilize and (2) put more pressure on the government. Please share here: extendpua.org/sharestories

Write a Letter to the Editor (LTE) or pitch your story to your local press. Check out our pitch tips and LTE suggestion here: extendpua.org/presstips

Our data team did a dive into the HEROES Act to try to break down exactly how much of that money is For The People. Find out more at extendpua.org/updates.

Did you submit a question prior to or during WTF’s community meeting? See all of our answers now at extendpua.org/wtf.

In solidarity, always,
The ExtendPUA.org Team

It’s also important to remember that the RESTART Act is not a comprehensive bill that helps everyone in the industry. It is absolutely helpful, but it is small business legislation, not legislation to help freelance crews and individuals. If you don’t know what RESTART is, you can read about it, written by a small business/venue owner here: extendpua.org/restart or the full bill here: https://www.congress.gov/bi…/116th-congress/senate-bill/3814

RESTART is not enough to save this industry. Crews and individuals really need Extended FPUC and extended and expanded PUA. These things are all the mission of extendpua.org; join us in our fight for them. They also advocate for RESTART and SaveOurStages legislation in our mission. This industry and ALL PEOPLE need comprehensive legislation.
