Stage Directions • Theatre Buzz • October 13, 2020

Milwaukee Rep is welcoming audiences back to its theaters that are socially distanced and revamped for the safety of everyone with a special 45th anniversary production of Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol in the Quadracci Powerhouse December 1 – 24, 2020. Here’s a video from Milwaukee Rep with Director/Artistic Director, Mark Clements explaining what a Foley Artist is and how they will have one onstage performing all of the sound effects for this production:

Foley Artist (and Musical Director) Dan Kazemi will be located onstage creating all the sound effects live during the production, much like radio plays of the 30s and 40s. Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol is Directed by Artistic Director Mark Clements, with Music Director and Foley Artist Dan Kazemi; Set Design by Arnold Bueso; Lighting Design by Jason Fassl; Costume Design by Alexander B. Tecoma; and Sound Design by Andre Pluess.

Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol by Tom Mula is one-person adaptation starring Milwaukee Rep veteran Lee E. Ernst. A staple of countless family traditions, the holidays would not be complete without Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, and the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future. This one-person intimate tour-de-force adaptation embodies the very heart of this beloved holiday classic celebrating love, hope, and redemption.
