Peter Pan at Ballet Memphis

Check out this behind the scene’s video from Ballet Memphis on the rehearsal and preparation of Ballet Memphis’ Peter Pan. This new staging, choreographed by Steven McMahon, features a scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, lighting design by Christopher Chambers, costume design by Anne Armit, fight direction by Slade Kyle, and flying from ZFX Flying Effects.

The flying system allows five characters to soar at once, “rising, falling, and flying across the stage with great precision.” The production features colorfully illuminated sets—from a Victorian bedroom to lush forests to a pirate ship—paired with a score of composers hand-picked by McMahon transform The Orpheum into Neverland.

It took thousands of hours of research, planning, listening to music, choreographing, designing, sewing, programming, building, and rehearsing to bring audiences two hours of absolute, joyful smiling. Ballet Memphis tips its hat to their amazing production and wardrobe crew, not to mention their professional company of fabulous dancers.
